It will be the Mexican’s first defense of the crown he took from longtime champ Michalczewski via split decision over 12 rounds on October 18 at Color Line Arena of Hamburg. With his victory Gonzalez sent a shock through the boxing world and at the same time thwarted the attempts of German-Polish Michalczewski, 48-1 (41), to break several world records in boxing.
That’s why the skillful and highly mobile Zsolt Erdei, a former amateur world champion, is hoping for his big international break through when he faces the dangerous Mexican early next year in Karlsruhe. In his last fight on November 15 the 29-year-old man from Budapest knocked out Frenchman Ramdane Serdjane in Bayreuth in the first round. In September Erdei made a successful defense of his WBO intercontinental title in his home country against Spaniard Juan Nelongo Perez with a unanimous decision victory over 12 rounds.
The World Boxing Organization currently ranks Erdei at #3.
In the co-main event local crowd pleaser and boxing beauty Regina Halmich who was born in Karlsruhe will make another defense of her WIBF flyweight title. It will be the 34th world title fight in the amazing career of Halmich, 43-1 (14).
