After a first round of Lee scoring at will with his piston like jab, the 23 year old continued to use heavy handed combinations to wear down Rivera over the course of the second stanza..
Towards the end of the second round with Rivera trapped against the ropes, Lee blasted away with a devastating left hook to the body which dropped Rivera to the canvas.
Sensing that Rivera could no longer continue, referee Tony Weeks called a halt to the action and awarded Lee the victory as he improved to 2-0-0 (1KO). Official time of the stoppage was 2:59 of the second round.
“Fighting in Vegas was a dream come true, the second round knockout was icing on the cake” said Lee “Notre Dame might’ve lost one on the field today, but we got a victory in the ring tonight, for the team.”
The Lee/Rivera bout was the feature attraction undercard bout to the HBO televised “The Battle of Champions” featuring the World Featherweight Championship bout between Yuriorkis Gamboa and Orlando Salido.
Details of Lee’s next bout will be announced shortly.
