31.12.04 - Welshman Enzo Maccarinelli has issued a warning to reigning WBO World Cruiserweight Champion Johnny Nelson: "I will get you in 2005!" The 24-year-old power-puncher from Swansea believes he will finally get his opportunity in 2005 against the Sheffield veteran who has held the title for nearly eight years and is regarded as the best in the division..
Big Mac said, "I still view Nelson as the best out there and I can't wait to get it on with him. It's the fight the public wants to see and I believe that I am ready to face him - contrary to what he has been saying,"
"I respect and admire everything he has done throughout his career and I want to fight him while he is still recognised as the best to test myself and find out just how good I am or how far I have to go,"
Maccarinelli first has to defend his WBU crown against the American puncher Rich LaMontagne at the Bridgend Leisure Centre on Friday 21 January in what he is predicting to be an explosive encounter.
"This could be a real tear up against LaMontagne and will certainly kick the New Year off with a bang,"
"From what I have heard about him he can whack and has got come forward style that will suit me down to the ground,"
"First I will deal with LaMontagne and then it will be Nelson." Finished Maccarinelli.
