Chislehurst’s Webb (16-1) makes the first defence of his British light-middleweight title against Martin Concepcion (17-7) at The Troxy, London E1 on Saturday (16th Oct) having given his all in training.
He recalled: “I played truant from school and went down to Bromley & Downham ABC and I have never looked back.
“I have always worked hard and the tougher training becomes the more I enjoy it. I can move to another level.”
Webb, 29, shocked Anthony Small to win his crown back in March and is tipped to challenge Lucas Konecny for the European crown.
But he is not overlooking his heavy hitting Leicester challenger and added: “I am confident about beating Concepcion and moving on, but I’m just taking one step at a time.
“Things can happen overnight in boxing, a title shot against Konecny could come off the back of this fight, or I could be made mandatory for his title.
“Let me just deal with this fight and afterwards I will sit down and talk with Frank Maloney.”
A second championship contest sees Cwmbran’s Jamie Arthur (17-4) battle it out with Bellshill’s Kris Hughes (12-0) for the vacant Commonwealth super-bantamweight crown
Three of Maloney’s other heavyweight prospects David Price (7-0), Tom Dallas (11-0) and Damian Campbell (1-0) all box on the show being televised live by Sky Sports.
There is also the eagerly awaited debut of Malmesbury’s ABA light-welterweight champion Joe ‘The Gent’ Hughes
The card also features Tony Hill (5-1), Erick Ochieng (5-0), Lewis Pettit (2-0) and Martin Welsh (7-0).
Tickets are available priced £35 and £85 from www.frankmaloney.com and 0871 226 1508
