FRANK MALONEY has issued a challenge for any British heavyweight to step into the ring and face David Price.
The Olympic bronze medallist will show off his talents when he boxes on the undercard to Sam Webb’s (16-1) British light-middleweight title defence against Martin Concepcion (17-7) at The Troxy, London E1 on Saturday (16th Oct).
Promoter Maloney said: “I will match David with any British heavyweight apart from David Haye.
“If I was offered a fight against Dereck Chisora I would take it in a heartbeat, and expect David to win.
“People have been critical of David, but there will be no complaints about the opponent I am hoping he will face in January or February.
“The deal is being finalised and I hope to be able to announce it in the next couple of weeks.”
Liverpool’s Olympic bronze medallist (7-0) hopes to become the first man to stop Belarusian Raman Sukhaterin on The Troxy bill, to send a warning to his domestic rivals.
Sukhaterin, 35, has gone the distance with Pele Reid and Henry Akinwande, and has never been stopped in 21 fights.
Maloney added: “I am not going to name them, but a couple good British heavyweights turned down this job.
“One didn’t want to know and the other one fancied the fight, but wanted another contest first.
“It is about making the right fights at the right time for prospects and David will become a serious British title contender early next year.”
Two of Maloney’s other heavyweight prospects, also box on the bill - Tom Dallas (11-0) and Damian Campbell (1-0).
A second championship contest sees Cwmbran’s Jamie Arthur (17-4) battle it out with Bellshill’s Kris Hughes (12-0) for the vacant Commonwealth super-bantamweight crown
There is also the eagerly awaited debut of Malmesbury’s ABA light-welterweight champion Joe ‘The Gent’ Hughes who is destined to become one of boxing’s biggest stars.
The card also features Tony Hill (5-1), Erick Ochieng (5-0), Lewis Pettit (2-0) and Martin Welsh (7-0).
Tickets are available priced £35 and £85 from www.frankmaloney.com and 0871 226 1508
