David Price to train in the United States

BRITAIN’S number one heavyweight prospect David Price is flying to Los Angeles to continue his ring education.

Price, 27, and trainer Frannie Smith will fly to Los Angeles in early November for an intensive two week training camp.

He will join fellow Olympic bronze medallist Tony Jeffries and Smith will be helped by legendary American trainer Tommy Brooks.

The 6ft 8in Liverpool fighter stretched his unbeaten record to eight wins last weekend when he became the first man to stop Raman Sukhaterin.

Next year Price will be moved up in class with the aim of winning the British heavyweight title.

Promoter Frank Maloney said: “It will be beneficial to David, and although all the training will be under Frannie, Tommy will be on hand to give technical advice.

“When I signed David, I tipped him to become world heavyweight champion and after the performance against Sukhaterin I am even more convinced.

“I look at David’s physical advantages and I see a fighter who is Britain’s answer to the Klitschko brothers.

“He is going to be so hard to beat when he becomes a professional champion.”
