Ashley Sexton to fight for the Commonwealth Title

Lightweight sensation Ashley Sexton is set to challenge Chris Edwards for the Commonwealth Flyweight title on November 13th at the M.E.N. Arena, Manchester as the chief supporting bout on the undercard for the highly anticipated David Haye v Audley Harrison showdown. Sexton, who won the English Title after defeating Usman Ahmed by way of a devastating 1st round knock out has been busy since turning professional in August 2008. In May of this year Ashley challenged experienced Shinny Bayar for the British Title. The fight was an absolute barn burner which was eventually scored a draw. However the decision was considered to be controversial after Sexton began to come on very strong in the latter rounds.

Sexton, who is managed by London based promoter Mickey Helliet has fought for the British and English title in only two years and has remained undefeated in ten fights. Now the much loved Cheshunt local who commands a strong following will be fighting in the biggest fight of his career in front of a packed MEN Arena. Helliet is confident that his charge he has the speed and power to beat Edwards even if the bout does go into the later rounds. “Ashley showed in his last fight that he can come on strong later on. He has learned a great deal from having now gone 12 rounds and he’s a true warrior, Chris Edwards is going to learn that the hard way.”
