The Swindon sensation will make a welcome return to action on February 19 when he fights at Bethnal Green's York Hall.
But he is determined to make up for lost time in 2011, and build on his impressive 14-0 (8) record.
Since he turned professional under the guidance of Frank Warren, 2006 Commonwealth Games Champion Cox has campaigned at welterweight.
As he continues to grow though, he will now target a Lonsdale belt at 154 pounds.
That belt is currently held by Sam Webb, but Cox believes he is ready for the best.
"When Kell Brook was British welterweight champion, most of the country was running scared from him, but I was there calling him out," said Cox.
"It will be the same for me up at light-middleweight.
"I'm disappointed to leave the welterweight division because I really fancied that fight against Brook.
"But I'm getting bigger every year and it was a logical decision to move up in weight.
"I want that British title more than anything, and I'll fight anyone to get my hands on it.
"I've had a frustrating year out of the ring, and the break has made more determined than ever to make it to the top.
"When I'm at the top of my game, there isn't a boxer in the country who can live with me.
"I need a couple of fights back to shake off the ring rust, but then I'll be ready for Sam Webb or any of the other top 10 in Britain.
"The likes of Bradley Pryce and Martin Concepcion are very experienced, but I'll fight them no problem at all.
"A few years ago light-middleweight was one of the glamour divisions of British boxing. I'll be putting some sparkle back in 2011."
Cox will box in an eight rounder on the undercard of Tony Bellew's Commonwealth light-heavyweight title defence against Ovill McKenzie.
The British title will also be on the line after Nathan Cleverly vacated.
