Ramirez-Nugaev Headline Guilty Card On Feb. 4

28.01.05 - Nationally ranked lightweight Jairo Ramirez of San Diego takes on Rustam Nugaev of Los Angeles in the 10-round main event on the nationally and internationally televised “Guilty Fight Night” professional card presented by Guilty Boxing in association with Tecate Friday, Feb. 4, at the Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nev..

Boxers from five countries—Israel, Mexico, Norway, Samoa and the United States—are represented on this Guilty Boxing card.

The 23-year-old Ramirez, originally from Oaxaca, Mexico, has a record of 16-2 with seven knockouts and is ranked No. 11 by the North American Boxing Federation. The slick and crafty boxer is coming off a 10-round unanimous decision over Gabriel Vasquez on a Guilty Boxing card Oct. 29 in Las Vegas.

The 22-year-old Nugaev, originally from Russia, has a record of 13-3 with five knockouts and is coming off a unanimous decision win over Ricardo Fuentes March 30 in Inglewood, Calif.

Also on the seven-bout card are undefeated heavyweight George Garcia of Glendale, Ariz., who represented Mexico at the 2004 Athens Olympics, and two highly regarded prospects--unbeaten super middleweight Joe Spina of Providence, R.I., and undefeated welterweight Geir Inge Jorgensen of Las Vegas.

Guilty Boxing’s “Guilty Fight Night” telecasts are seen domestically on America One; in Europe, Africa and middle eastern countries on Fox Sports International; in Europe and Africa on BEN Television; and in the Caribbean on WCVI Super Station.

Guilty Boxing’s weekly cards are seen in almost 50 million households worldwide, making Guilty Productions one of the fastest-growing providers of boxing television programming in the world.

Commentators for Guilty Boxing’s “Guilty Fight Night” telecasts are “The Colonel” Bob Sheridan and Benny Ricardo. Sheridan, a Boxing Hall of Fame inductee, has worked almost 800 world championship bouts on six continents during a career that has spanned more than three decades. Ricardo, for seven years a place kicker on four NFL teams, also is a veteran announcer and has covered the biggest events in the sports world, ranging from Super Bowls to World Cups.

The 22-year-old Garcia has a record of 4-0 with three knockouts.

The 27-year-old Spina has a record of 14-0 with 11 knockouts.

The 26-year-old Jorgensen, who’s originally from Norway, has a record of 19-0 with eight knockouts.

Garcia meets Bridger Bercier of Great Falls, Mont., (2-0, 1 KO) in a four-round fight; Spina and Jorgensen go against opponents to be determined in six-round bouts.

Other fights include 19-year-old Rafael Valenzuela of Phoenix (3-0, 1 KO) against Juan Carlos Santiago of Las Vegas (7-5-1, 2 KOs) in a six-round featherweight fight; Mika Gergen, originally from Samoa and now living in San Diego (6-1-1, 6 KOs), against an opponent to be determined in a six-round heavyweight bout; and Eric Nemo of York, Pa., (4-0-1, 2 KOs) against a foe to be selected in a six-round super bantamweight fight.

This is the 15th “Guilty Fight Night” card to be held at a Coast Casinos property and the ninth at the Orleans. The innovative Guilty Boxing series was launched last May and has presented cards in Southern California, Arizona and Tijuana as well as Las Vegas.

The card starts at 7 p.m. (Pacific) with doors to the Mardi Gras Ballroom at the Orleans Hotel & Casino opening at 6:30. The Mardi Gras Ballroom is located on the second floor of the Orleans Hotel & Casino, which has been hosting boxing matches since 1999.

Tickets are priced at $20 and $30 with all seats reserved. Tickets are available at the Orleans Hotel & Casino box office Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. or by calling 702-365-7070 or 702-365-7075 during those days and hours.
