Ahmed Mustafa & Athanas Nzau Tunes Up

08.02.05 - Egyptian light middleweight prospect Ahmed “The Riot” Mustafa (7-0, 5 KOs) will continue his rise towards bigger things, when he returns to the ring on February 17 at the Zamalek Sporting Club Basketball Hall in Giza, Egypt in a six-rounder against an opponent still TBA..

Mustafa had a break-through of some sorts last year, when he stopped long-time fringe contender Rashid Matumla to lift the lightly regarded WBB title in front of thousands of enthusiastic fans at the same venue.

After his February 17th fight, it is planned that he will engage in a rematch on March 1 with archrival Ramadhan Mahmoud (4-1), whom Mustafa stopped in two rounds this past October. Mahmoud has been calling out his countryman ever since their first fight, hungry for revenge, and promoter Richard Nwoba and manager Henrik Risum have now decided to let 2005 Egyptian boxer of the year, Mustafa, take him on once again in what will be a locally-anticipated grudge-fight.

Another of Risum´s boxers; super featherweight Athanas Nzau (16-4, 5 KOs) from Kenya, will square off with local man Tike Ogama at the Armana Hall in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania this coming Friday (February 11) in a bout scheduled for six rounds as well. Nzau is a former world-ranked contender on the comeback-trail, and Risum is hoping to feature him in some kind of title fight should he be successful against Ogama on Friday.
