The Showdown Part 2 postponed
06.12.03 – Pendarvis Boxing Promotions announced today that due to a variety of reasons “Return of Friday Night Fights: The Showdown Part 2,” scheduled for December 12, has been postponed until January 30 at the Worcester National Guard Armory.
“We lost a few fights and several sponsors that we needed to make the show a success,” promoter Doug Pendarvis said. “We were running out of time and it was decided that we’d postpone the show until January 30. Some businesses indicated that they would be interested in sponsorships, but only after the first of the year, and a few more New England fighters also will be available next month.”
Pendarvis said former world welterweight contender “Sucra” Ray Oliveira, of New Bedford (MA), would still headline the card. The co-feature six-round, non-title fight between world middleweight champion Leititia “Baby Girl” Robinson (9-0, 8 KOs), of Chicago, and No. 6 rated Yvonne Reis (3-1-1), formerly of Marlboro (MA) and now fighting out of Ft. Lauderdale, will remain in place. Other fighters expected to be in the Jan. 30 include a Worcester cruiserweight Roy “House of” Payne (15-12-4, 6 KOs) and Lawrence featherweight Denise “Mighty” Moses (2-0, 2 KOs).
