Michael Katsidis - The most consistently exciting fighter today!

By James Slater: Australian warrior Michael Katsidis did it again this past Saturday on that excellent show in las Vegas: he gave his all in a superb battle in which he managed to come up short.

As was the case when he went to war with Joel Casamayor and, more recently, Juan Manuel Marquez, "The Great" lost the fight but won the adulation of the fans. Simply put, against the quite superb Robert Guerrero, Katsidis turned an already good fight into something akin to a Rocky movie!

Who was not screaming at the tv in that gut-wrenching 8th round, when a hopelessley behind Katsidis launched a savage body attack - one that might have pulled the fight around for him if it wasn't for an appalling referee?

Watching the way Katsidis bit down on his shield and went to work reminded us all what makes boxing so special - we saw a warrior refuse to accept defeat. In the end, The Australian thrill provider (perhaps the most exciting Aussie fighter ever?) went down to a lopsided points defeat, but does it matter?

Sure, Katsidis is seeing his loss column build, but his box office appeal will never go south - such drama does he provide each and every time out. We may worry about his long term health, but Katsidis loves savage combat and worries about nothing. Already he has given us five classics. How much more pumping adrenaline can this Australian hero generate ?

Katsidis' classics ;

Vs. Graham Earl. Won tko 5
Vs. Czar Amonsot. Won points.
Vs. Joel Casamayor. Lost tko 10th
Vs. Juan Manuel Marquez. Lost tko 9
Vs. Robert Guerrero. Lost points.
