Khan wins on cut eye stoppage over McCloskey, fans unhappy

Paul McCloskeyBy James Slater: Tonight in Manchester, fans were witness to a most disappointing fight, as AMIR KHAN retained his wba light welter belt with a 6th round cut eye stoppage over an irate Paul Mccloskey.

Though the cut, above the challenger's left eye, appeared to be nothing serious, the ringside doctor, almost instantly, made his decision to stop the fight. Khan was ahead 60 to 54 on all three cards at the time, but he was looking tired.

Mccloskey, a huge underdog coming in, was making the champ miss a lot and he was in no way the patsy many felt he was going in. The proud Irishman, who looked more than capable of boxing on, asked for a return. In light of the controversial stoppage, he is not the only one!
