Margarito Wins An "Eerie" Battle

19.02.05 - Jim Amato: WBO welterweight champion Antonio Margarito halted a dead game Sebastian Lujan in the tenth round. The bout was stopped by the referee because Lujan's left ear was nearly torn off his head, literally! I've never seen anything like it in all my years of watching fights. It was a pretty gruesome sight. Talk about "winning ugly"! As for the fight itself Margarito started slowly but his power began to surface in the middle rounds. By the time the bout was stopped he was in control..

The victory sets up a April 23rd match up with Puerto Rican sensation Kermit "Killer" Cintron. What a war that ought to be. Cintron and fellow countryman Miguel Cotto are two of the best prospects in all of boxing. In Margarito, young Kermit will be facing a severe test.
