Welliver vs Polley Tonight

By Charles White: Continuing his quest for a heavyweight championship fight, top 10 heavyweight contender Chauncy “The Hillyard Hammer” Welliver (47-5-5 with 17 ko’s) fights tonight, June 11th at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City. Making the 5th defense of his WBC Continental Americas title, Welliver takes on journeyman Byron “The Bear” Polley (24-11-1 with 11 ko’s) in a 12 round bout.

Weighing in at a ready 238 lbs. for this fight, Chauncy is ready to put on a show for the fans in Kansas City against Polley, who was not present for the weigh in. Looking to stay active and get more rounds in, Welliver is ready and willing to step up in competition after this fight. Chauncy has recently called out top contenders Chris Arreola and David Tua, and is willing to face any and all comers in order to prove that he is top 10 material and a serious challenge to the other top heavyweight fighters.
