Hinteregger Rematch On April 2nd

03.03.05 - A working-date of March 25 in England failed to work out for the anticipated rematch between Fight Production’s Gotthard “The Cougar” Hinteregger (24-7-1, 12 KOs) and IBF Intercontinental superwelterweight champion Joszef Matolcsi (20-6, 14 KOs), but it is now confirmed that it will take place one week later on a SES Boxing Promotion at the Stadthalle in Velten, Germany, near Berlin.. Besides Matolcsi´s crown, the vacant WBO Intercontinental belt will also be on the line.

The first fight between the two, October 10 last year in London-suburb Brentwood, was a real thriller, and saw Matolcsi knocked down four times by then champion Hinteregger, before catching the Austrian with a picture-perfect left hook in round eight to salvage victory from the brink of defeat. At the time of the stoppage, Hinteregger was way ahead on the scorecards, and since that night he has been dreaming of revenge, concentrating on nothing else.

RTL Klub will televise in the champions home country Hungary, but, to the surprise of Fight Production owner Olaf Schroeder, Austrian TV has so far been silent.

“It amazes me that Austrian television is ignoring the opportunity to broadcast the most successful boxer the country has had since Edip Secovic won the European superwelterweight title more than 15 years ago,” says Schroeder. “Gotti can make Austian boxing-history by winning two internationally recognized titles in one fight, we have the whole ‘revenge-aspect’, which is a huge thing for Gotthard, and we have a fight that will be fantastic even if its only half as good as the original, and yet there’s no indication that they want to be part of that. Go Figure!”

The show will also feature local hero Marco Schulze in a bid for the vacant IBF International superwelterweight title against Belgian Douglas Bellini.
