New Date For Froch-Ward “Super Six” Final: December 17th - Bout Will Stay In Atlantic City, NJ
By James Slater: It has been reported on a number of boxing web sites how a new date has been found for the postponed “Super Six” final between Britain’s Carl Froch and Andre Ward of the U.S. The original date of October 29th, scrapped due to Ward picking up a cut eye in sparring, has now been replaced by December 17th.

The eagerly anticipated fight will still go down at original venue Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The question now is, which fighter will benefit the most from the extra weeks to go until the fight? Once-beaten Froch was said to be in great shape last week, and “ready to go.” Will the enforced delay make “The Cobra” stale at all? Ward has revealed on his Twitter page how his stitches will be out “in a few days.” The unbeaten former Olympian added that “The work won’t stop. I’ll be ready when the new date is set.”
But until the stitches are removed, Ward will be unable to spar. Will this affect “S.O.G’s” timning and reflexes any?
Hopefully, both men will (finally) enter the ring for the final on December 17th in perfect mental and physical condition; that way neither man will be able to have any excuses after the fight is over with. The Boxing Classic tournament has had its share of snags and disappointments already; the last thing we need is a controversial/and/or let down of a final with the loser crying robbery or putting his loss down to the delay.
May the best man win. But the “Super Six” has been such a long and drawn out affair, it’s debatable the fans will be up for another tourney with the same rules. Maybe, as some posters have suggested, a knockout tournament would have been a better idea. Food for thought for those promoters who are looking at putting on another show of a similar nature?
A heavyweight “Super Six” would, I’m sure attract a ton of attention!
