Alfredo “Perro” Angulo (20-1, 17 KOs), from Mexicali, Mexico, is a punishing puncher whose aggressive style has made him a fan favorite. Following a 13-month layoff, the 29-year old slugger returned in August with a devastating first-round knockout of Joseph Gomez. Since suffering his only professional loss to Kermit Cintron on HBO in 2009, Angulo has won five straight bouts by knockout and looks to continue his hot streak.

Angulo will face James Kirkland (29-12, 26 KOs) of Austin, Tex., arguably one of the hardest punchers in the sport today, in this scheduled 12-round, junior middleweight tilt. After ending a two-year layoff in March, the 27-year-old Kirkland will be fighting for the sixth time this year, and continuing his road to redemption after suffering the first loss of his comeback in April at the hands of Nobuhiro Ishida.

The undercard features popular contender Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (25-0, 19 KOs) and southpaw Craig McEwan (19-1, 10 KOs) in a ten-round middleweight bout. Brooklyn’s Quillin, 28, looks to maintain his undefeated record against the 29-year-old McEwan, a Scottish native currently residing in Hollywood, Cal.

The night of boxing action on HBO begins at 9:45 p.m. with the premiere of episode three of the four-part all-access reality series “24/7 Pacquiao/Marquez,” as HBO Sports spotlights the spirited rivalry between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez.
