Australian Boxing: 11 November 2011

By Srithar Visuasam: Peter Maniatis' Promotions returns on Friday November 11, with a strong card of Australian boxing at the Malvern Town Hall, Melbourne, Australia. Headlining the event is WBA #10 Joel Casey (14-8-1, 9 KOs) taking on Manny Vlamis (10-2, 7 KOs) for the PABA light heavyweight title. Casey, a former WBF light heavyweight champion, is currently enjoying a four fight winning streak, which commenced with a split points decision victory over former world rated light heavyweight Tim Bell (18-6-1, 13 KOs) for the PABA title.

Vlamis, also is riding a four fight win streak which included wins that saw him capture the WBF Asia Pacific and Victoria State light heavyweight titles. The fight will test two fighters of contrasting styles, with Casey the southpaw having the advantage in height, with Vlamis, the orthodox fighter, having the advantage in speed.

In the supporting bouts, junior middleweight Michael Zerafa (5-0, 3 KOs) takes another step up in class when he takes on Australian Fight Series participant Faisal Fayad (5-2) for the Victoria State light middleweight title, which will be a great test to see where Zerafa is at.

Australian Fight Series finalist Tim Hunt (12-3, 4 KOs) takes on Ariel Omongos (8-20, 7 KOs) at welterweight and Eddie Delic (18-9-2, 3 KOs) and Aswin Cabuy (12-26-2, 5 KOs) do battle at light middleweight.
