Aydin defeats Jo-Jo Dan
By Rob Smith: Welterweight contender Selcuk Aydin (23-0, 17 KO’s) proved once again that he’s slightly better than “Jo-Jo Dan” Ion (29-2, 16 KO’s) by defeating him by a close 12 round unanimous decision on Saturday night at the Spor Salonu in Trabzon, Turkey. The final judges’ scores were 113-112, 113-112 and 115-111.

Dan surprisingly took the fight to the powerful Adyin and was able to score a lot of shots. Aydin, however, was once again the harder puncher and landed the cleaner shots in the fight. He did look a little ragged at times, throwing wild punches and missing badly as the fight wore into the later rounds.
Dan fought really well and made it close with his high work rate. This guy is a good fighter and if he had just a tad more power he’d be a fighter to be reckoned with in the welterweight division. But tonight, Aydin landed the better shots and gave Dan enough problems to get a slight win. I have a feeling if these guys fought 100 times it would be a close decision every time. Thus far, Aydin has won both fights but Dan could get him in a rematch if he makes some adjustments.
