Dirrell defeats St Juste, now WBC mandatory for Froch

By Rob Smith: Showing why he was ranked #1 by the WBC, unbeaten super middleweight contender Anthony Dirrell (24-0, 21 KO's) made easy work of 39-year-old No.2 ranked WBC contender Renan St Juste (23-3-1, 15 KO's), stopping him in the 4th round with a series of hard power shots to become the WBC mandatory challenger to champion Carl Froch.

The fight ended due to St Juste injuring his left shoulder but Dirrell made it clear that he was the better fighter, and had the fight gone longer it was clear Dirrell was going to stop the badly overmatched St Juste. This was supposed to have been a competitive fight, but Dirrell was much better than St Juste and was literally picking him apart with straight right hands, left hooks and jabs.

Dirrell fought a lot like his older brother Andre Dirrell, except he didn't move as much as was thinking offense the entire fight. In the 4th, Dirrell was hurt from a head butt that left him grimacing in pain. However, this seemed to anger Dirrell, as he took off after St Juste as soon as the action resumed and was pounding him at the time that St Juste started complaining about his injured shoulder.

Overall, it was a great performance from Dirrell, who showed he's got the talent to hang with the best fighters in the super middleweight division.

In other action on the card:

Jhonatan Romero SD 10 Chris Avalos
