Estrada, 245 lbs., stalked his opponent from the opening bell, landing quick one-two's throughout the night, while a frustrated Rabotte, 246 lbs., talked a lot more trash in the ring than he dished out. A steady body attack from Estrada paid off in the 8th round when Estrada landed a hard right hand to the rib cage that sent Rabotte to the canvas for the first and only knockdown of the fight.
The final scores were 80-71 and 80-72 twice, raising Providence, RI's Estrada's record to 17-4, 4 KO's while Rabotte, Atlanta, GA, fell to 11-19-1, 3 KO's.
In the co-feature, former USBA & NABO middleweight champion Brian "The Bull" Barbosa, 171 lbs., made his return to the ring successful with a first round TKO over New England light heavyweight champion Joe Gardner, 171 lbs.
Barbosa, now fighting out of Falmouth, Mass., never let Gardner get warmed up, as he jumped on him from the opening bell. A huge left hook dropped Gardner for the first time and than an overhand right sealed Gardner's fate as referee Dick Flaherty waved off the action after the second knockdown.
The win, Barbosa's first since January 2002, raised his record to 30-6, 22 KO's. The loss drops Gardner, Woonsocket, RI, to 7-4-1.
In what may have been the New England Fight of the Year, undefeated Chris Gilbert, 151 lbs, defeated Dustin Reinhold, 150 ˝ lbs. The two waged an all-out war for four rounds. The win raised Gibert, Windsor, VT, to 3-0, 2 KO's. Reinhold, Fall River, Mass., fell to 4-2, 2 KO's.
In another slug fest, undefeated Angel Camacho, 173 lbs., made his return to the ring a success with a hard fought decision win over Keith Kozlin, 175 lbs. The unanimous decision gave Camacho, Johnston, RI, his first win since 2008 and raised his mark to 12-0, 4 KO's. The loss drops Warwick, RI's Kozlin to 6-3-1, 4 KO's.
Hartford, CT prospect Joseph "Chip" Perez, 133 lbs., raised his mark to 6-1, 2 KOs with a unanimous six round decision win over Adrian Perez, Sarasota, FL, 133 lbs. The loss dropped him to 7-4-1, 1 KO.
Kali Reis, 148 lbs., scored two knockdowns en route to a 2nd round TKO over Kate Aversa, 146 lbs. The win raised Providence, RI's Reis' record to 3-1-1, 2 KO's. Aversa, Framingham, Mass., fell to 0-2. Reis was awarded "Fighter of the Night" for her performance.
Debuting junior welterweight prospect Jair Ramos, Hartford, Conn.,141 lbs. scored a shutout unanimous decision over fellow pro debut Robert Brando-Hunt, Hyannis, Mass., 142 ˝ lbs.
The event was the first show for the newly formed Big Six Entertainment and was sponsored by Narragansett Beer. Matchmaker for the event was Mark Vaz.
