Roy Jones Jr. decisions Max Alexander

By Rob Smith: First the good news: 42-year-old Roy Jones Jr. (55-8, 40 KO's) ended his three-fight losing streak on Saturday night in defeating Max Alexander (14-6-2, 2 KO's) by a 10 round unanimous decision by the scores of 100-90, 100-90 and 99-91 to win the UBO Intercontinental cruiserweight at the Civic Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

Now the bad news: This win was nothing to get excited about because Jones picked Alexander from the 2nd tier to take this fight rather than Jones try his luck against a 1st tier opponent. I'm sure Jones is just happy to get any kind of win right now and doesn't particularly care that he had to dig deep to find Alexander. For Alexander, this was his fourth consecutive loss and his sixth defeat in his last seven bouts.

You'd like to see Jones face better opposition given that he'd like to fight Antonio Tarver next in what would be a fourth fight between the two fighters. Tarver, you would think, will likely be open to a fourth fight unless something bigger comes along which is kind of doubtful.
