Arthur: "I'll Run Naked Through Princes Street If Doc Beats Me!"

22.03.05 - Edinburgh star Alex Arthur has promised to run naked through the capitals busy Princes Street if he losses to Glasgow rival Craig Docherty in their super-fight on April 8. Arthur bids to regain his British Super-Featherweight crown and claim Docherty's Commonwealth belt at the Meadowbank Stadium in his home city in what is viewed as the biggest all-Scottish clash since the epic scrap between greats Ken Buchanan and Jim Watt over 30 years ago..

With so much at stake, the flash 25-year-old is confident of beating Docherty and believes he won't have to strip off.

"There is no way I can lose this fight now!" laughed Arthur.

"In the highly unlikely outcome of Docherty beating me, I will stick by my word and promise to run through Princes Street butt naked the following Saturday morning (16 April) at 11am,"

"To be perfectly honest, I cannot possibly see myself being beaten by the likes of Docherty. So unfortunately, or luckily, for the people of Edinburgh they will not get to see my bare backside because I will knock-out him out,"

Amazin' Alex respects his West Coast adversary but reckons he has the tools to out-gun him, "Docherty's certainly gritty and determined but he knows that I am the superior fighter in all departments from technical skill and experience to strength and punch power,"

He added, "Frank Warren has done a fantastic job in bringing the fight to Edinburgh where I will have home advantage and I will not let him or my fans down,"

"Everything is in place for me to win, all I have to do is beat Docherty - which I will do,"

Billed as 'FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE!', Arthur-Docherty headline a superb card that also features rising Edinburgh welterweight hot-shot Gary Young, Coatbridge super-featherweight Ricky Burns, Edinburgh bantamweight Scott Flynn, Glasgow welterweight Colin McNeil plus London heavyweight John McDermott and Welsh middleweight prospect Kerry Hope.
