HBO Agrees to Broadcast Ruiz vs. Toney

23.03.05 - DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla.— Promoter Don King announced today that HBO has agreed to broadcast the fight between World Boxing Association heavyweight champion John “The Quietman” Ruiz (41-5-1, 28 KOs) and James “Lights Out” Toney (68-4-2, 43 KOs) on April 30..

The date had been originally held for World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko to face former WBC and International Boxing Federation heavyweight champion Hasim “The Rock” Rahman. Klitschko suffered a thigh injury while jogging that has postponed this match.

Leading site contenders to host Ruiz vs. Toney are New York’s Madison Square Garden and the Office Depot Center in South Florida.
