Chisora looking good for Vitali bout but it won’t change a thing – he’s still going to lose badly
By Michael Collins: British heavyweight Dereck Chisora (15-2, 9 KO’s) has been looking really sharp in training and appears to have dropped a lot of tonnage in getting ready for his important bout against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (43-2, 40 KO’s) on February 18th in Munich, Germany.

As far as I can tell, Chisora looks to be 10 pounds lighter than his last fighting weight of 243lbs for his bout last month against Robert Helenius. That was Chisora at his best in that fight, as he appeared to have lost a great deal of flab from his disaster against Tyson Fury earlier in the year when Chisora waddled into the ring weighing 261 and was easily beaten by an in shape Fury.
But it really doesn’t matter what weight Chisora comes in for the Vitali fight; he’s going to lose and lose badly. It’s not about weight or having the best possible conditioning. This is more about basic talent and levels. Chisora is more of a basic fighter taking on a super talented fighter with a lot of size, power and experience going for him.
Chisora is basically a 2nd tier fighter being thrown into the ring with the best of the A level fighters simply because Chisora had a good performance against an overly hyped Helenius, who fought with an injured right shoulder and right hand against Helenius last month. Chisora will give it his best shot against Vitali but the best of a 2nd tier fighter isn’t enough to beat the best of the 1st tier fighters.
Chisora is going take a beating in this fight and it doesn’t matter too much how good he looks because this isn’t going to be a bodybuilding contest on February 18th. This is going to be a fight and Chisora doesn’t stand a chance, but at least by coming into the fight in good condition, he’ll look physically good in losing.
