Paul McCloskey vs. Julio Diaz fight still up in the air

ORANGE, CA (February 23) - In an effort to clarify the false news that is circulating in the boxing world as it relates to the May 5 match up between junior welterweights, former two-time world champion Julio "The Kidd" Diaz and WBA #8 ranked Paul McCloskey, Thompson Boxing Promotions has issued the following official statement:

"As far as we are concerned, we don't have a fight, because we have never been approached by Matchroom Sport, or any other entity. Thompson Boxing is the sole promoter of Julio Diaz and we would be more than glad to negotiate arrangements to have Julio Diaz fight Paul McCloskey on May 5th or any other date as long as we can agree to satisfactory terms with his promoter."
