Frank Maloney has announced an action-packed undercard for the David Price’s heavyweight showdown in Liverpool.
Price and Sam Sexton meet for the vacant British heavyweight championship on Saturday, May 19 in front of the Sky Sports cameras..
Maloney reports tickets are selling well for the first show held at Aintree racecourse and fight fans will see an action-packed undercard topped by Ashley Theophane defending his British welterweight title against local favourite Steve Williams.
Theophane kept his belt in one of the best fights of 2011.
He needed a dramatic last-round stoppage to wipe out Ben Murphy’s points advantage when they clashed in Peterlee last December – and Williams will surely push him all the way again.
Williams, known as ‘The Wallasey Express,’ derailed previously-unbeaten Karl Place with a two-round stoppage last year that brought him the English belt and has previously challenged Morden punching machine Lenny Daws for the British title.
Daws also boxes on the massive Liverpool show in a British-title eliminator against Adil Anwar.
Daws needs one more British-title win to claim the Lonsdale belt outright – and Anwar is a rising star.
He won English honours at 10st 7lbs and last month was crowned ‘Prizefighter’ champion with wins over Barry Morrison, John Watson and Tyrone Nurse.
