Maddalone defeats Koval

TEAM MADDALONE…NY Heavyweight Vinny Maddalone, 232 pounds, won a bruising war with tough Chris Koval, 229 pounds, by a fourth round stoppage Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing show at Russo’s On The Bay, in Howard Beach, NY last night. Scheduled for ten rounds, they decided to fore go the customary feeling out process & started banging it toe to toe from the opening bell with Maddalone landing a thunderous right that flattened Koval early in the opening session.

Up and trying to appear unhurt, Koval covered up and soon found an opening up the middle. He drilled Maddalone with a right hand that momentarily had him stunned. As the bell sounded Maddalone had recovered and battling his way back. They traded many punches for the following three rounds until Maddalone landed a crushing right that not only knocked Koval down, but rendered him temporarily unconscious at 2:34 of the fourth round.

With the victory, Maddalone improved to 35-7 w/26 KO’S. Koval fell to 25-9 & has now lost 7 of his last 9 fight’s.
