The fight game with Jim Lampley review

By Rey Anthony: HBO, the giant cable network synonymous to boxing showed a new series last Saturday May 12, 2012 called “The Fight Game with Jim Lampley”. It’s the network’s obvious attempt to be the US version of UK’s boxing oriented show “Ringside”.

The half and hour show is filled with interviews from today’s fighters and match ups. It touches on current issues in the sport and it showed interviews with famous promoters, fighters and trainers. The show also includes nostalgia of previous noteworthy fights and comments from the host himself to summarize the show.

Its debut episode included interviews with Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaeffer and Top Rank head promoter Bob Arum that touched the current state of the Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Match up that the whole world wants to see. It included an interview with Lampley’s HBO colleague Max Kellerman and an interview with Freddie Roach and Amir Khan regarding the scrapped rematch with Lamont Peterson that got scrapped due to the latter testing positive on a banned substance.

To close the episode, Jim Lampley presented “The Gatti List” a compilation of current exciting and action packed fighters today.

Filled with news and information for hungry fight fans in the United States who are craving for more boxing outside the ring. While not yet up to pay with UK’s “Ringside”, “The Fight Game with Jim Lampley” is a solid show that should satisfy us in the US.
Check out “The Fight Game with Jim Lampley” periodically on HBO Saturday at midnight.
