Roach Talks Reasons for Manny Last Performance Against Marquez

By Vitali Shaposhnikov: According to Manny Pacquiao’s coach Freddie Roach, the Filipino sensation underperformed in his last fight against Juan Manuel Marquez due to numerous personal life difficulties that had surfaced right before their fight back in late 2011.

"All the distractions caught up to Manny in his last fight. He's given away his cockfighting farm, sold his casino and his nightclub,” stated Roach.

One of the most important happenings that had occurred toward the end of the fight preparations, an action that took a lot out of the champ, was his wife Jinkee serving the champ divorce papers right before the fight.

Of course since then, we have all seen and heard of a different Manny Pacquiao. He is now not devoted to his family, but is also an enthusiastically religious man.

All that is good, but does that give Roach the right to speculate that this was the very reason that Pacquiao fought the way he did against Marquez? What about the two previous times?

Seems like Pacquiao is very well protected by his team, who would do anything to prevent Manny from looking like a regular human being; a guy that can lose a fight, and show decline in his abilities.

No matter how you look at it, this is an excuse. What this excuse is for is hard to say. After all, Pacquiao did win the fight, didn’t he?
