by Michael Collins: In another god awful decision that further blackens the eyes of boxing, a slow and plodding Tomasz Adamek (46-2, 29 KO's) won a controversial 12 round unanimous decision over American Eddie Chambers (36-3, 18 KO's)on Saturday night at the at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

The final judges' scores were 116-112, 116-112 and 119-109. The scores don't jibe with the actual fight, which I had Chambers winning 10 rounds to 2. If I was to be kind to Adamek I'd give him three rounds tops, but no more than that. He was just clueless and out looking out there.
Adamek looked awful all night long and was out-boxed by a one-armed Chambers, who had to rely on his right hand all night long after injuring his left early on. Adamek came in at a career high of 225 pounds and out-weighed the slender 202 pound Chambers by 23 pounds. However, the extra tonnage was useless weight for Adamek, as he looked old, slow and beaten in this fight. I can't say I'm surprised that Adamek got the decision, though, because it was a home fight for him, but I expected more from the judges after last weeks's fiasco in Las Vegas in the Manny Pacquiao - Timothy Bradley fight.
