By James Slater: First the fight was moved off the Haye-Chisora bill in London due to conflicting T.V contracts, and now the Alexander Povetkin-Hasim Rahman fight that was set for July 14th is off altogether.

Rahman has suffered a wrist/hand injury and "Rock" will be unable to go ahead with the fight for the "regular" WBA heavyweight title. It is not yet known if the unbeaten Povetkin will fight on, against a suitable late replacement challenger if one can be found with a little over two weeks to go.
Former champ Rahman, somehow Povetkin's mandatory challenger, has waited some time for his shot at "history," but in truth fans were not overly excited by the Povetkin fight. Okay, Rahman would have had the proverbial puncher's chance, but at his age, and after not having had a significant win in years, Rahman's chances were being looked at as small at best.
Knowing the way the alphabelt organisations work, Povetkin will still have to accommodate Rahman once he is fit again. But the unbeaten Russian star both wants, and is deserving of, bigger and more meaningful fights.
