Provodnikov vs. Reynoso tonight on ESPN2 Friday Night Fights
By Marcus Richardson: Tonight light welterweight contender Ruslan Provodnikov (21-1, 14 KO's) will be facing 27-year-old southpaw Jose Reynoso (16-3-1, 3 KO's) in a scheduled 10 round bout that will be televised on ESPN2 Friday Night Fights at the Omega Products International, in Corona, California.

Provodnikov recently spent a training camp with former WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao to get him ready for his fight earlier this month against Tim Bradley. Hopefully Provodnikov gained something from all the sparring sessions he had with Pacquiao, because he needs to dramatically improve on many levels for him to amount to anything in the division. Provodnikov lacks height, reach, speed, power and defense. All those areas have huge gaps, and he's already been beaten by Maurcio Herrera in 2011, and I had Provodnikov losing by six rounds in his fight against DeMarcus Corley last December.
Although Provodnikov got the win, I thought the journeyman Corley easily beat him. If Reynoso has any ability, he could beat Provodnikov tonight. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Reynoso wins this fight. Provodnikov is currently ranked #2 by the WBO. I think he's better placed at #15 to #20. I don't see this guy as a top 10 fighter and definitely not #2 like the WBO has him ranked.
Also on the card will be Roberto Castaneda taking on Crhistopher Martin, Dashion Johnson going up against Angel Osuna, Aaron Acevedo vs. Danny Martinez, Roberto Crespo vs. Oscar Godoy and Lissette Medel vs. Tatina Anderson.
