“Roger is a hometown kid and we couldn’t be happier to have him,” Halquist said. “He has lots of experience as a boxer and we have been watching him for years. Roger was a very successful amateur but we’ve always felt that his style as a fighter is more conducive to a pro-style.”
Cantrell will fight at middleweight and will pro-debut May 14th at the Emerald Queen Casino’s Battle at the Boat boxing series taking on Montanan Richard Gabaldon. Gabaldon will be making his pro-debut. Cantrell joins veteran Kenny Ellis, undefeated super lightweight David Torres and New Jersey heavyweight Kevin Johnson under the Halquist banner. “We plan on signing a couple more fighters by the end of the month”, Halquist said. “A promoter is only as good as his fighters and we plan on getting a couple more good ones!”
Tickets are $75, $40 and $20 and are available at all Ticketmaster locations and at the Emerald Queen Casino - (253) 594-7777.
