Boxing since the age of six, the 32-year-old Kitchener native has been lauded for his exceptional abilities and his world-class caliber. The former provincial and national amateur champion finished with a stellar amateur record of 90-11.
Turning professional as a middleweight boxer, Vanderpool turned pro in March 1993. His professional record stands at 35-4 23KOs. Vanderpool was the North American Champion from 1997-1988, and he challenged for two world titles in 2000 and 2004.
Syd has a passion for working with young people. He speaks, and does boxing clinics at many area schools in the community. His goal is to open The Destiny Centre, a youth facility that will empower champion athletes and build champion citizens.
