07.06.05 - Kostya Tszyu, has not fired long-time trainer and mentor, Johnny Lewis, contrary to reports coming out of Russia. Team Tszyu were made aware of the unfounded accusation this evening during transit at Bangkok en route to Sydney. The press release falsely implied Tszyu’s manager, Matt Watt, had issued a statement confirming Tszyu had sacked Lewis, though there were no direct quotes from Watt to accompany this report..
“There is absolutely no truth in this statement and it is disappointing that someone has released false information that is potentially damaging to both Kostya and Johnny,” said Matt Watt from Changi Airport.
