Powers Championship Boxing presents “Road to the Title” on June 25

14.06.05 - Powers Championship Boxing presents “Road to the Title” at Nationwide Arena on Saturday, June 25 at 7 p.m. The night will feature seven bouts culminating with a pair of title fights marking the first time in Columbus boxing history that two national title fights are on the same card.. Competing for the NABA National Cruiserweight Title, former WBC Continental Americas Cruiserweight Champion Chad Van Sickle (18-1-2) of Columbus takes on Michael Carr (14-1-2) of Pittsburgh while Kyle Patrick (7-3) of Columbus faces James Northey (7-1) for the NABC Cruiserweight Title. Tickets are on sale now at the Nationwide Arena Ticket Office and through Ticketmaster.

Chad Van Sickle, whose 18-1-2 record includes ten knockouts, has fought three times on ESPN with two of those three included in the network’s Top 10 fights of the year. Van Sickle is currently ranked #38 in the WBC (World Boxing Council) and #13 in both the NABO (North American Boxing Organization) and USBA (United States Boxing Association). Van Sickle’s opponent, Michael Carr, whose 14-1-2 record includes eight knockouts, recently held the IBC Americas Cruiserweight Title and the NABC Cruiserweight Title. The winner of that fight will put himself in position to contend for a World Title belt.

Columbus native and current Midwest Heavyweight Champion Mike Alexander (11-0) puts his undefeated record on the line that night while another Columbus heavyweight, Billy Evans (3-0), looks to extend his streak with all wins earned by way of knockout when he faces Richard Kelly (0-1). Also from Columbus, Matt Catalogna will fight in his professional debut against Germaine Worthey.

Two-time World Kickboxing Champion Chris Overbey (3-1) of Bellefontaine faces Donny Adams in a Junior Middleweight fight while Welterweight Brian Camechis (5-0) of Glouster, Ohio takes on Jeff Coyle (5-3). Tickets are $35 and $25 for adults and $20 for students.
