Calvin Brock Returns Saturday on Mayweather-Gatti Card

20.06.05 - Undefeated heavyweight contender Calvin "The Boxing Banker" Brock (25-0, 20 KOs) returns to the ring this Saturday, June 25th, on the undercard of the Gatti vs. Mayweather HBO PPV event from Atlantic City. Brock will fight veteran Kenny Craven (26-15, 22 KOs)..

As a result of his recent tremendous win over top 10 rated giant Jameel McCline, Brock solidified his status a heavyweight contender in a division in desperate need of a new, marketable face. Brock is now rated #8 by ESPN.com boxing expert Dan Rafael and #7 by Ring Magazine.

Brock said, "This Saturday's fight against Craven is what it is. It's a 'stay busy' fight for me. It's important to me to stay in the ring, stay sharp and continue to learn. I'm hoping to fight for a title, or at least fight a title eliminator, this November on ESPN PPV. It wouldn't be smart to just wait for November. This fight with Craven is keeping me in shape in for November."

Brock continued, "But let me say this, I'm sure Craven is coming to win. I don't underestimate any man willing to step into the ring with me."

Brock has been training with coach Tom Yankello in Pittsburgh.

A native of Charlotte, Brock will be getting married in July to a Duke University law school student. Calvance Brock, Calvin's father and manager, will serve as best man.
