Matt Vanda Whips Yuri Boy

26.06.05 - By Jim Amato: Matt Vanda of Minnesota revived his sagging career with hard fought but well deserved decision over former world title holder Yuri Boy Campas. The victory gave Vanda the International Boxing Association's Junior Middleweight title. Vanda was the quicker of two and used that to build up an early lead. The stronger and harder hitting Campas began making up for last time while getting the advantage in the middle rounds.. Then in the late rounds Matt got his second wind and did enough to pull out a split decision. The scoring was Vanda by 116-112 and 115-113. Then 113-115 for Campas. Vanda is now 34-1 while Campas is now 86-8.
