Hopkins Nominated For ESPY Award

JULY 1 (MIAMI, FL) While training for his July 16th fight against Jermain Taylor, Bernard Hopkins took time out of his day to respond to the news of his ESPY Award nomination in the Best Boxer category. "The ESPY's represent the overall sports world and it's an honor to be recognized for my achievements this past year," said Hopkins.. "I have fought and defended my title 20 times and July 16 it will be 21. That is part of boxing history and what will be my legacy."

Hopkins is one of four nominees including Zab Judah, Diego Corrales, and Winky Wright. The ESPY Awards will take place July 13 in Los Angeles. Winners are chosen by the fans (www.espn.com.)

Hopkins ring performances last year included stellar wins over Robert Allen and Oscar de la Hoya. This past January he registered his 20th victory with a win over Howard Eastman.

Undisputed middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins will face undefeated middleweight heir apparent Jermain Taylor in a fight being billed as "Next in Line" on Saturday, July 16 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The championship card will be presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with DiBella Entertainment and televised and distributed live on HBO Pay-Per-View beginning at 9pm ET/6:00pm PT.
