Alex Arthur Sees Red
05.07.05 - British and Commonwealth Super-Featherweight Champion Alex Arthur has seen red over French President Jacques Chirac's comments regarding Scotland's traditional dish - haggis. Proud Scotsman Arthur, who is in training for his historic European title challenge against Russian Boris Sinitsin on Saturday 23 July at Edinburgh's Meadowbank Stadium, is fired up by Chirac's comments to German and Russian leaders ahead of the G8 Summit by saying that haggis is an unappetising Scot delicacy.

"With all due respect to Mr. Chirac, he does not know what he is talking about," stormed the hard-hitting Edinburgh star who has 17 knockouts from 20 wins.
Arthur added, "Haggis is a Scottish delicacy that is alongside the worlds finest foods and to have Mr. Chirac slagging it off is just as insulting as calling me a rubbish boxer,"
"When I was wee, my mum raised me on haggis and it hasn't done me any harm as I'm now the British and Commonwealth champion and about to add the European title before hopefully challenging for a world title next year,"
"I hope that Mr. Putin, the Russian President, does not have the same thoughts about haggis because I will then say to him when I beat Sinitsin - "Well, it helped me beat your man Boris Sinitsin maybe he should try it!"
Arthur v Sinitsin headlines a fantastic show titled 'From Russia with Gloves' that sees Arthur aim to become the first Scot since the legendary World Flyweight Champion Jackie Patterson in 1946 to hold the British, Commonwealth and European titles simultaneously.
