10.07.05 - by Per-Åke Persson: IBF I/C supermiddle champ Robert Stieglitz stopped Tanzanian challenger Francis Cheka on a fifth round retirement in the headliner of SESī show at the Herrenkrug. Cheka, under severe pressure, simply pulled a "no mas" but no one could blame him. Fact is I felt German referee Heinrich Muehmert should have already stepped in during the fourth when Stieglitz hit Cheka with just about everything in the book..

Hungarian Laszlo Buranyi, a very late sub who came in from his vacation, won the IBF Intīl 154 lb title on a close call after an exciting fight against German Marco Schulze. The three judges all scored it 114-113 for Buranyi with a heavy knockdown in the tenth making the difference. Schulze appeared to be in control by then as Buranyi had faded but a sneaky right hand turned things around.
Natascha Ragosina defended the WIBF I/C supermiddle title with a shutout decision over American Valery Mafood. Ragosina kept the distance, jabbed well, and showed a sharp right. Mahfood kept trying but just couldnīt get close enough.
Pick of the undercard was Ergin Solmaz brave stand against former amateur star Alexey Mazikin in a heavyweight four-rounder. The difference in class was obvious but Mazikin just couldnīt hurt his determined opponent and had a point deducted for low blows.
Making his debut as timekeeper was the now officially retired two-time EBU heavyweight challenger Rene Monse.
Andreas Sidon, badly whacked out last weekend by Alexander Dimitrenko, vows to continue his career.
