Oscar Diaz Has Paid his Dues
26.08.05 - “Oscar Diaz has paid his dues,” says his promoter, Dino Duva of Duva Boxing. “He has become one of the most exciting TV fighters in the world, and if he gets by Tom Davis on Friday, he deserves a world title fight.” The always action-packed Diaz is scheduled to face Thomas Davis in the ten-round super lightweight main event of this week’s Friday Night Fights telecast from the Thunderbird Wild West Casino in Norman, Oklahoma..
“Davis is no pushover,” admits Duva, “he owns the only win over one of our other future 140-lb stars, Kendall Holt. But if Oscar gets by him, especially in exciting fashion, the world sanctioning bodies have got to take notice and give this young man what he’s earned…the chance to bring home a world title.”
Since July of last year, 22-year-old Diaz has rattled off four impressive victories, three over fellow up-and-coming prospects. His “rock ‘em sock ‘em” wins over Al Gonzalez (Sho-Box televised) and Jesse Feliciano (ESPN2 televised) have cemented him as one of boxing’s premier “made for TV” fighters.
“Most TV viewers and ticket-buying fans don’t like to watch careful boxers dueling to a decision. They want to see warriors who leave everything they have in the ring every time they fight. That’s Oscar Diaz. 140 lbs of highlight reel action.”
