Shannon Briggs knocked out former WBO heavyweight champion and 1988 Olympic gold medalist Ray Mercer in seven rounds. Briggs, 33, improved his career record to 43-4-1 with 37 knockouts. Mercer, a U.S. Olympic Gold medalist and former WBO heavyweight champion, fell to 34-6-1.
Joan Guzman scored a unanimous 12-round decision over Terdsak Jandaeng in a WBO featherweight title elimination bout Friday night. Guzman, of the Dominican Republic improved to 24-0.
