Mundine to fight Rico Chong Nee on Dec 11
23.11.05 - By Gavin Stone: Anthony Mundine has announced that he will take on Samoan-born warrior Rico Chong Nee on the December 11 promotion at Perth's Challenger Staduim. The 30 year old Chong Nee- record of 10 wins 6 loses 2 draws- is best remembered for the thrilling fight in which he and Solak promoted Gurkan Ozkan participated in on the Anthony Mundine-Antwun Echols World Title fight undercard in September 2003 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre..

Chong Nee has also battled against world class fighters in Nader Hamdan, Anton Solopov and Sakio Bika- and has given a solid account of himself on each occasion. Chong Nee has a reputation as a very durable fighter with tremendous chin as well as good speed and reflexes, tending to fight more on the outside, much like Mundine himself. Chong Nee's last fight -against promising Australian Paul Miller- was ruled a technical draw after being stopped on cuts; the fight was a very close contest at the time of stoppage.
Mundine, 30, is taking this fight as a final preperation before his multi-million dollar world title elimination bout with arch rival Danny Green-who will also feature on the December 11 card as a co feature bout. Green will be fighting 36 year old Kirino Garcia who holds a 37-26-3 record, and is coming off a 1st round TKO loss.
The December 11 card- which is a sell out- promises to be a historic event in the lead up to the Mundine vs. Green fight of legacy in early 2006. For those that have followed the Mundine-Green rivalry over the years, the December 11 card is one that can not be missed.
