Heavyweight champ John Ruiz in NE Patriots corner

29.01.04 – WBA Interim heavyweight champion John “The Quietman” Ruiz (39-5-1, 27 KOs) is in Houston to attend Sunday night’s Super Bowl. “I’m here to support my favorite football team, the New England Patriots,” Ruiz said. “I was there two years ago when the Pats beat the St. Louis Rams in the Super Bowl. Robert Kraft (owner of the Patriots) has been good to me and I’ve met some of the players, too. I just want to show my support for them.”

Ruiz was an all-star football player at Chelsea High (borders Boston) in the late eighties. He is attending the Super Bowl with his brothers, Robert and Eddie; manager/head trainer Norman “Stoney” Stone and his son, Bryan; friend Alex Rivera.
