Euro Roundup: Sprott vs Virchis, Kessler-Lucas, more

05.12.05 - By Per Ake Persson: Ukrainian heavy Vladimir Virchis defends the WBO I/C title December 13 in Solden, Austria, against Brit Michael Sprott. Virchis has been sparring with unbeaten Swedish heavy Aldo Colliander at the Universum gym in Hamburg. "Ther are not many othjer boxers that want to step into the ring with Virchis", says Aldo. "The guy can punch for sure and has an awkward style. But I did well, I moved alot and punched alot and that kept him busy."

EBU fly champ Ivan Pozo will now fight Hungarian Robert Isazegi December 9 in Paris. Itīs the fourth change of opponent for Pozo, who first was to have fought Bernard Inom, then Hassan Naji and then Franck Gorjux.

Aldo takes on Russian Almaz Gismeev December 10 in Helsinki

The Kessler vs Lucas show in Copenhagen January 14 will also feature supermiddles Rudy Markussen and Martin Nielsen, lightweight Martin Kristjansen and WIBF bantam champ Anita Christensen will make her first defence of the title (almost two years after winning it).

Former WBO 140 lb champ Giovanni Parisi takes on Frenchman Michel Mothmora December 20 in Bergamo in a fight made at jr middle. Welter Luca Messi takes on Louis Mimoune.

LA-based Swedish lightweight Shadi Hamsho appears on the undercard to Tapia vs Ontiveros December 9 in Albuquerque, NM. It will be the first six-rounder for the 5-0 Swede.
