Rocky Juarez Headlines “Knockouts at Coushatta X” Jan 21

Kinder, LA—The Pavilion at Coushatta hosts another evening of professional boxing January 21, 2006. Coushatta Casino Resort and Bayou Promotions have arranged a fight card designed to excite boxing fans everywhere. The main event features Olympic medalist and WBC Continental Americas champion Ricardo “Rocky” Juarez (24 wins, 16KO’s). His opponent is hard-hitting knockout artist Backlin Medrano (10 wins, 9KO’s).. Medrano is trained by Jim and Christy Martin. Mrs. Martin is one of female boxing’s pioneers, credited with achieving recognition for the sport of female boxing.

The co-main event carries its share of excitement when flyweight world champion Wendy Rodriquez defends her title against undefeated contender Carina Moreno in a 10-round battle for the belt. Other featured undercard fighters include José Diaz (9-0) (brother of WBA champion Juan Diaz), Akondaye Fountain (6-0), Genaro Alarçon (2-0), plus 43-fight veteran Lisa Holewyne.

Boxers’ weigh-in and press conference is scheduled for 3:00pm Friday, January 20, in Gumbeaux’s Sports Bar, inside the casino. The boxing event will be held in The Pavilion at Coushatta.
