Hill Defeats Brudov

28.01.06 - Virgil Hill has won the vacant World Boxing Association cruiserweight title by unanimous 12-round decision over previously unbeaten Russian Valery Brudov. The three Judges all had Hill winning the 12-round match 118-110. Hill hadn't fought since losing the WBA cruiserweight belt to Jean-Marc Mormeck in May 2004. In the co-feature, two-time WBC lightweight champion Steve Johnston outpointed Steve Quinonez to win the vacant IBO Jr. Welterweight Title. Judges' scorecards read: 118-109 and 116-111 (twice) for Johnston.
